THE TIME people spend travelling to work is affecting their home life and health, although people with demanding jobs make sure they take pets for a walk for at least half an hour a day, according to new research.
A study of 2,600 adults found that one in 10 spent two hours a day commuting to work, but just half an hour of "quality time" with their children.
The report, by American Express Insurance, found that commuters spent an average of just 18 minutes a day exercising, compared with more than two hours watching television.
Chris Rolland, head of American Express Insurance Services, said: "For many hard-working Britons it seems there are simply not enough hours in the day.
"For some, the amount of time spent at work has overtaken time spent at home and for all workers there are a huge number of drains and challenges to their free time."
